Fire Australia & HazMat 2016 Exhibition, Sponsorship & Speaking Opportunities

The newly combined Fire Australia & Hazmat 2016 is shaping up as the largest event ever held by Fire Protection Association Australia.

If you would like to sponsor the event or participate as an exhibitor at the tradeshow, now is the time to secure your position as these options are limited and do sell out.

In addition, if you or a representative from your company or organisation can make an engaging and insightful contribution as a speaker we encourage you to complete the call for speakers application in order to be considered.

The Association is also pleased to announce that Flamestop and Tyco Fire Protection Products have been confirmed as the Platinum Sponsors for Fire Australia 2016 and we thank them for their valued support.

Copyright Violation of FPA Australia Logbooks

FPA Australia has become aware of widespread duplication of its proprietary AS 1851-2012 and AS/NZ 2293.2 logbooks.

The Association is now pursuing all individuals and companies involved in the replication.

MFB Calls for National Cladding Audit

FPA Australia supports the calls by the Melbourne Metropolitan Fire Brigade for a national audit of all modern high rise buildings due to the risk of flammable non-compliant cladding.

The MFB has recently called for a national audit of modern high-rise buildings, warning that the use of cheap, flammable and non-compliant cladding over the past decade has created buildings that are potential "ticking time-bombs".

EAHL Qualified Persons (Entitlement 1-5) Now Mandatory

As of 1 December 2015 fire protection technicians will only be allowed to handle scheduled extinguishing agents if they hold an Extinguishing Agent Handling Licence (EAHL) - Qualified Persons (Entitlement 1-5).

FPA Australia congratulates the Fire Protection Industry (ODS & SGG) Board (the Board) on transitioning the majority of industry technicians from the experienced licence entitlement to qualified.

Last Chance to Attend a Membership Meeting

FPA Australia is encouraging all members in Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne to attend their upcoming membership group meetings.

Over recent weeks we have held membership group meetings in Perth, Adelaide, Darwin and Hobart with many members attending to learn about key issues and initiatives related to the fire protection industry and the chance to raise questions with senior management of the Association.

The final membership group meetings will be held in Sydney on Thursday 3rd December (featuring a presentation from Fire & Rescue NSW on false alarms), Brisbane on Friday 4th December and Melbourne on Tuesday 8th December. All members are welcome to attend and attendance is free.

Warnings About Fake Test Certificates

Exova Warrington Fire has published an open letter warning the building industry and consumers about fake test certificates purporting to have been issued by Exova Warrington Fire.

The certificates claim to be in relation to load bearing testing of timber framed wall systems tested in accordance with Australian Standard AS 1530.4-2005 sections 2&3.

AS 1851-2012 The Recognised Maintenance Standard in NT

In November FPA Australia delivered an important seminar on the changes happening in NT in relation to maintenance of fire protection systems and equipment.

Recent changes mean that the Northern Territory Fire and Rescue Service now formally recognises Australian Standard AS 1851-2012 as the "relevant standard" for the routine service of fire protection systems and equipment.

AS 1851-2012 Amendment Public Consultation

The first amendment to AS 1851-2012 routine service of fire protection systems and equipment is currently open for public comment.

The amendment includes proposed changes to the requirements for baseline data, which has been identified as a source of confusion.
