Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from FPA Australia:
A Meesage From CEO Scott Williams
It's hard to believe another year has come and gone again and it certainly has been a busy one for Fire Protection Association Australia, as I'm sure it has been for you.
This year FPA Australia has recorded some signifigant achievements including moving from Box Hill to our brand new National Office facility in Blackburn North, once again delivering our premier industry conference and exhibition: Fire Australia 2012, the launch of our all new website very recently, and the important release of AS 1851-2012, to name just a few.
This year has also brought with it significant changes and challenges for our industry and we know that 2013 will present more hurdles, but also many new opportunities for us all.
As part of the ongoing growth and development of our industry, the new year will see the launch of our voluntary national accrediation scheme for fire protection companies and individuals working in Test & Inspect activities related to AS 1851-2012.
This scheme, which has been in development for much of 2012, will help to highlight those industry individuals that hold appropriate minimum skills and competencies for their duties and will become an important tool for both our industry, related sectors such as building, construction and facility management, and ultimately, the community as a whole.
This year's Fire Australia Conference and Exhibition was an outstanding success and we look forward greatly to Fire Australia 2013 in Sydney, where the conference theme, will fittingly be "The Journey to Professionalism". We look forward to seeing you all again for Fire Australia 2013 in Sydney.
Our all new website is another important building block in ensuring FPA Australia continues to be a contemporary and forward looking Association, and it is exciting to see the launch of the new website just weeks after our move from our old premises to our new Blackburn North facility. Please ensure you visit our new website at www.fpaa.com.au.
With so much rapid change occurring in the fire protection landscape in 2012, the Christmas and New Year Break is the perfect time for us to reflect again the important values of the work we undertake in the fire protection industry. In particular our focus to ensure the protection of life, property and environment from the devastating impact of fire, and to start the new year afresh with these goals always at the forefront of our minds.
On behalf of the FPA Australia Board of Directors, all staff within the association including myself, I wish you all a very merry Christmas and a safe and happy new year. I look forward to working together with you towards our shared goals in 2013.
