On 7 December 2011 the Victorian Auditor-General’s Office (VAGO) released a report on compliance with the Building Act 1993 which identified a range of concerns and recommendations for improvement. Of particular consequence for the fire protection industry and community is the identified lack of evidence to demonstrate compliance with fire safety standards.
FPA Australia increases technical advice for members
Technical Advisory Note TAN01 addresses the issue of simultaneous water flow requirement. This TAN identifies relevant Australian Standard requirements and provides recommendations for application. It is an example of the members-only document that are now being developed by FPA Australia and its Technical Advisory Committees (TACs), Special Interest Groups (SIGs) and State Committees. This and future TANs and members-only documents will be made available in future on a secure members-only website. Further information and documentation is planned for 2012. .
Information Bulletin - Use of genuine components: Pre-engineered fire systems
FPA Australia has produced an Information Bulletin aimed at increasing awareness of the importance of using genuine - i.e original equipment manufacturer (OEM) - components when servicing pre-engineered fire systems.
